As its name indicates, Paine Grande, the recently inaugurated lodge opened last October by the business Vertice, is known for its infrastructure and services.

The total investment into the new lodge near Lake Pehoé was approximately one million dollars, used for the construction of a 1200 meter squared lodge. The lodge has: 60 beds, two living rooms, a reading room, a dining room for 120 people, and a bar for 50 people, in addition to a barbecue area, bathrooms. and other services.

Additionally, a camping zone was set up with 60 individual sites and three large sites for group camping.

Regarding the fixtures, Alex Von Bischhoffshausen, general manager of Vertice, pointed out that they are considered to be in the category of five stars due to their comforts and services even when rooms and bathrooms are shared. “Lately, there has been a notorious change in the profile of the foreign tourist, since the backpacker of today has a great purchasing power and is generally a professional, “ he emphasized.

In relation to the location of the mountain lodge, the businessman said that it is in a strategic zone since it borders the most important places in the park. “ This is the primitive sector of the park, that was called Pehoé Lodge and we asked for Conaf's authorization to change the name to Paine Grande, since it was being confused with the Pehoé Hostel that is situated in another area on the edge of the trail.

Von Bischhoffshausen added that his product is aimed at tourists that enter the primitive zone, “since it provides elderly visitors with the possibility of undertaking a day hike to and from the Grey Glacier or the Francés Valley , without having to carry a pack.
