WhaleSound

In the Strait of Magellan on the foremost southern tip of South America, only six years ago, a group of scientists discovered the feeding water sites where humpback whales return every summer.

This specific “call of nature” has probably been taking place for centuries in this adjacent channel surrounding the Carlos III island what gave place to the naming of the area as the Whalesound.

In association with a local fisheries logistic expert, Carlos Valladares, the researchers, Jorge Gibbons, Yerko Vilina and Juan Capella, created "Whalesound".

Their first success though, was their pressure unto the government of Chile to establish the first marine park in the country, Marine Park Francisco Coloane, to ensure the conservation of these natural treasures.

They have now opened these secrets to special visitors.

The ultimate ecological policies and the safest of possible conditions have been devised and achieved to allow visitors to meet these marine giants as well as the rest of the incredibly diversified animal life in these remote and dramatic landscapes.

Whale-watching, dolphin-watching, penguins and bird-watching and kayaking, are available from December 15 until the 15 of May.

Experienced personnel, state of the art fleet and equipment, and the comfortable campsite at Carlos III, are devoted to the study of natural life in Patagonia, at it’s best conditions.

Whale-watching with whalesound in the Francisco Coloane Marine Park means scientific guidance, high conservancy politics and all the facilities of the Carlos III campsite: warm welcome, modern and comfortable, and delicious food and drinks, made from the best local products and international savoir-faire.
